Event FAQs
That's up to you! Many Plungers create a fundraising page that they can share in their business and with their friends and family. We encourage you to do that!
You can also choose to fundraise with the main event, instead of with an individual page. You'll still share your goofy Plunge graphic and tell the world about your participation, just know that your fundraising will go to the whole group instead of reflecting your efforts individually.
Not at the DAR! In past years, when we've plunged as late as April 1, we've had to saw through the ice to cut a hole to plunge in! It's reliably colder in Goshen than in nearby towns due to its elevation, so you can count on a March plunge being chilly!
Of course! We give Team and Individual Prizes for:
Top Fundraiser Best Costume Best Plunging Style Crowd Favorite
We make the hole about chest deep for our average height staff. You will be able to stand up and touch bottom after your plunge.
Maybe, but that's how committed we are to AOA's programs. If Plunging isn't for you, though, no worries! There's lots of ways to participate without a whole body experience. You can still consider yourself a plunger even if you just want to dip a hand or a foot. Or, you can sign up for the HECK NO! option and fundraise to NOT plunge! Or you can volunteer!
Of course! Some of the things we do are:
The Goshen Fire Department will be on hand, IN THE PLUNGE HOLE, to help out anyone in trouble.
The Plunge hole is only chest deep; you'll be able to stand up
We have a ladder and volunteers to help you climb out of the Plunge hole
Volunteers will be waiting to wrap you in a warm blanket or sleeping bag after you plunge
We encourage you to only plunge as much as you're comfortable - a toe, a finger, or your whole body. Your plunge, your choice.
