Forty years ago two young women met on a Hampshire pre-college canoe trip on the Connecticut River. Neither of us wanted to be there, but there we were…and we managed to make the best of it and create a lifelong friendship. This year my friend, Deb Levheim, and I will meet again on the Connecticut River to kayak 12 miles to celebrate our friendship, say goodbye to our alma mater which is closing, and fundraise for a cause that has significantly enhanced Deb's life.
Here are the details - please consider joining us on this beautiful journey by making a meaningful donation.
- Deb had a heart attack and stroke that she barely survived. She's a fighter and made it through but not without significant physical limitations that made accessing her beloved outdoor activities incredibly difficult. All Out Adventures makes it possible for people with disabilities to do extraordinary things and build community and belonging in the great outdoors for people of all ages with disabilities and their loved ones, older adults, and Veterans. Deb loves this organization and participates in the programming to get on the river and bike as often as she can!
- We would like to honor Hampshire College and the spirit of Non satis Scire (to know is not enough). It is there that we became who we are today.
- And especially to honor the 40 year friendship of two women. Hampshire College provided both of us with a precious friendship that neither of us knew we needed. It has become invaluable and precious to both of us and our families.
Please invest in our journey. We need to raise at least $2,000 to support All Out Adventures. Every dollar counts - multiples of 40 honoring 40 years of friendship, multiples of 12 for every mile kayaked, or a meaningful gift in honor of an extraordinary friendship, person or journey of your own!
Thank you!
